Who We Are:
We are glad you are here. Welcome to the Corvallis Seventh-day Adventist Church. We are a diverse community of believers who desire to walk humbly with Jesus, day-by-day. Orienting our lives around the Gospel, we come together to support and equip each other to go out and be the hands and feet of Jesus. Our vision is to be transformed by the LOVE of Jesus and be instruments of LOVE to this hurting world.
We believe deeper connection and growth in Christ needs the support of other believers and we encourage getting connected through joining one of our spiritual or social activities or small groups. Some options are Wednesday night Bible study and prayer, Saturday morning “Sabbath School” classes for all ages, Church Worship through music and message, fellowship meals after church, Friday night college group (ACF) activities, social events such as Craft & Chat, Women’s ministry events, family game nights, service projects, and/or Sabbath afternoon hikes or Bible study.
Located a block away from the campus of Oregon State University, we also have a thriving young adult ministry to the college students through a club called Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF). Every Friday night for over 20 years, young adults from OSU have had a place to connect in a church member’s home, enjoy a home cooked meal, and hang out, growing friendships. Throughout the year they plan social gatherings like apple cider pressing, a weekend in Sunriver or at the Coast, hiking on Sabbath afternoons, and other social and spiritual activities.
Jesus said, “what good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” We live in a time when there are so many things that can weigh us down, distract us, and hijack our peace. Jesus’ way of life embodies rest, hope, purpose, belonging, and salvation. He offers us principles to live by so that we stay grounded in that peace which surpasses understanding, even when circumstances surrounding us are difficult. Our souls are thirsty for the refreshing water of The Spirit, come and drink from the Water of LIFE.
We invite you to come join us and connect, YOU belong here!
Meet our Pastor:
I grew up here in the Northwest. I love the ocean, mountains and valleys, trees and colorful landscapes. Growing up I remember people asking me what I wanted to be when I got older. Anyone ever ask you this? I wasn’t always 100% sure what I wanted to do– pastor, occupational therapist, physical therapist, nurse…–but what I have always known is that I want to serve the Lord. He is wonderful, life giving, and the source of everything good. He is trustworthy and present, even when I haven’t been. He is beautiful and strong, a comforter and defender. He has never let me down and I know He never will. He desires to save humanity from our propensity to sabotage ourselves and each other.
I truly believe the answer to humanity’s woes is to follow the example and teachings of Jesus. He has shown us what love looks like, and through His death He has made it clear that nothing can separate us from His Love. Jesus has shown us who God is and that He deeply desires to be with us. God wants us to be fully known by Him, and to have us fully know Him. Through His Word we can see the difference between right and wrong, and if we are listening, hear Him calling us into community and service that resembles His character.
I have loved our community in Corvallis, since we moved here in 2013. My desire here at the Seventh-day Adventist Church is that together we can find welcoming, belonging, and encouragement in Christ. Together, doing good for His Kingdom. ALL are invited.
-Pastor Jon Griebel
Quote of the day
“The righteousness by which we are justified is imputed; the righteousness by which we are sanctified is imparted. The first is our title to heaven, the second is our fitness for heaven.”
